Expand description

Error information for when the program did something that might (or might not) be correct to do according to the Rust spec, but due to limitations in the interpreter, the operation could not be carried out. These limitations can differ between CTFE and the Miri engine, e.g., CTFE does not support dereferencing pointers at integral addresses.

Variants

Unsupported(String)

Free-form case. Only for errors that are never caught!

Tuple Fields of Unsupported

0: String
ReadPointerAsBytes

Encountered a pointer where we needed raw bytes.

PartialPointerOverwrite(Pointer<AllocId>)

Overwriting parts of a pointer; the resulting state cannot be represented in our Allocation data structure.

Tuple Fields of PartialPointerOverwrite

0: Pointer<AllocId>
ThreadLocalStatic(DefId)

Accessing thread local statics

Tuple Fields of ThreadLocalStatic

0: DefId
ReadExternStatic(DefId)

Accessing an unsupported extern static.

Tuple Fields of ReadExternStatic

0: DefId

Layout

Note: Most layout information is completely unstable and may even differ between compilations. The only exception is types with certain repr(...) attributes. Please see the Rust Reference’s “Type Layout” chapter for details on type layout guarantees.
